How to use the Snipping Tool

This is a guide on how to use Window's program, Snipping Tool in capturing screenshots to be used in your reporting, emails and other business related transactions.

How to use the Snipping tool on Windows 11.
Click Start >> in Search box, type "Snipping Tool" and click this icon.

NOTE: In the Snipping Tool, there were two options that you can use “Snip” & “Record”. The Snip option is used for capturing images and the Record option is for recording screens.


“HOW TO USE SNIP OPTION”
1.Choose the type of Snip you want in Snipping mode and click the New button.



Capture the Snips. Use the mouse to drag around or select an area or program for snipping. For example:

Save or Share the Snips. The cropped image automatically displays in the Snipping Tool window.

“HOW TO USE THE RECORD OPTION.”
Set the Snipping tool to Record.

Crop the screen you want to record and click Start to start recording.

The option to STOP/PAUSE and SAVE the recordings were located at the top of your screen. NOTE: For SD analysts, the option to stop and save the recording can only be seen by the user and not visible through a remote console.

ADDITIONAL NOTES: All the images and records you’ve captured will be automatically saved to your desktop.
Follow below steps for Windows 10 User.
1. Accessing Snipping Tool. Click Start > All Programs > Accessories or Click Start , in Search box , type "Snipping Tool" and click this icon.

2. Select the type of Snip. Click the arrow next to the New button and can capture any of the following types of snips:

Free-form Snip. Draw a free-form shape around an object.

Rectangular Snip. Drag the cursor around an object to form a rectangle.

Window Snip. Select a window, such as a browser window or dialog box, that you want to capture.

Full-screen Snip. Capture the entire screen.
3. Capture the Snips. Use the mouse to drag around or select an area or program for snipping.
4. Save or Share the Snips. The cropped image automatically displays in the Snipping Tool window.
The SNIP is available in the Windows clipboard and can be PASTED into documents or applications immediately.
- Tip: The tool provides some very basic highlighting or pencil tools – you can highlight an area of interest for example and then paste into the application or document of choice.
If you have replaced the Windows clipboard contents (using Copy command from other applications) – you can again place the contents into the clipboard by using the copy function on the Snipping Tool Window:
To Save a Snip, click the Save Snip button. In the dialogue box enter a name for the file and choose a format if need be.
To Share a Snip, click the arrow on the Send To Snip button and select an option from the menu
