Adding Additional Licenses for Rhino in Cloud Zoo
In the context of managing software licenses, there is a recommendation to add additional licenses for the Rhino application to the Cloud Zoo licensing system. This step is particularly aimed at the user group associated with Timexgroup_GraphicsDesigner.
NOTE: The software license key is being purchased by the Engineering department (FEADG - Graphics Designer) and the subscription to the Cloud Zoo (Rhino) is registered to their email address.
Procedure for Adding Licenses
To ensure a smooth addition of the licenses to the Cloud Zoo, the following steps can be followed:
1. Log into Cloud Zoo Rhino - My Account (rhino3d.com)
o Access the Cloud Zoo platform using the appropriate credentials.
2. Navigate to the Licensing Section
o Locate the licensing section within the Cloud Zoo interface. Rhino – Licenses (rhino3d.com)
3. Select the Appropriate User Group
o Choose the user group designated as Timexgroup_GraphicsDesigner to ensure that the new licenses are correctly allocated.

4. Add Additional Licenses
o Enter the details of the additional licenses required for Rhino.
o Confirm the entries to ensure accuracy.

5. Save Changes
o Finalize the process by saving the changes made to the licensing configuration.
Joining the Rhino Zoo Cloud Team
Inviting a user to join the Rhino Zoo Cloud team is a straightforward process, especially after an additional license has been added to the pool for The Rhino software. Here’s a simple guide to help make the invitation process smooth and efficient.
Steps to Invite a User
Once the new license is available, the following steps can be taken to invite a user:
6. Access the Rhino Portal
o Navigate to the Rhino portal and log in to your account.
7. Go to My Account
o Click on the "My Account" section, which is typically found in the main navigation area.
8. Select Teams
o Within the account settings, find and click on the "Teams" option to view available teams.
9. Choose the Team
o Locate and select the team named “Timexgroup_GraphicsDesigner” from the list of teams.
10. Invite Members
o Click on the "Action" button, then select "Invite members" from the dropdown menu.
11. Send the Invitation
o Enter the email address of the user you want to invite and click “Send” to complete the process.

NOTE: Successful License Migration for Graphics Designer from LAN Zoo License Manager to Rhino Cloud Zoo Licensing.
In a recent testing session, the results indicated a successful migration of the license allocation for Arbie from LAN to Cloud licensing for the Rhino application. This transition not only enhances flexibility but also streamlines the licensing process for users.
License Acquisition Process
One of the most notable outcomes of the testing was the confirmation that the Rhino application can successfully obtain a license even when the computer is not connected to the network or a VPN. The key requirement is that the computer must be online during the initial sign-in. Once connected, the application retrieves the license and is capable of operating offline thereafter.
-
Initial Sign-in: The computer needs internet access.
-
Offline Capability: After the first sign-in, the license can work without a network connection.
This feature is particularly beneficial for users who may face connectivity issues or need to work remotely, as it allows for uninterrupted access to the application.

Variability in Licensing Setup among Design Engineers
The testing also revealed discrepancies in the licensing setups among different Design Engineers.
-
Stand-alone Licenses: Some engineers are utilizing stand-alone licenses, which are independent of network connectivity.
-
LAN (Server) Licenses: Others are still on a traditional LAN setup, where licenses are managed through a central server (PPHCBLM1).
-
Rhino Cloud Accounts: A few engineers have already transitioned to their own Rhino Cloud accounts, indicating a move towards more modern and flexible licensing solutions.
This diversity in licensing arrangements highlights the necessity for a coordinated approach to ensure all users can transition smoothly to the new cloud-based system.
Conclusion
The recent testing of the license migration for Arbie demonstrates a successful shift to Cloud licensing for the Rhino application. With the ability to operate offline after an initial internet connection, users can benefit from greater flexibility in their work environments. Additionally, the varied licensing setups among Design Engineers underscore the importance of assessing individual needs and providing support for a seamless transition to cloud-based solutions.
Requirement:
For us to migrate the license to the Cloud, it should not have been activated already on any other Rhino Cloud account. However, it is possible to migrate by simply removing the license from that account and then re-activating it again on another Rhino Cloud Zoo account. A Rhino Cloud Zoo is also setup and manage under Arbie Account and we have registered two licenses in w/c they are able to found the license key. For ease of manageability, Arbie or any assigned admin on this team can invite the Engineer to join to have a single pane and visibility of the license usage.
Note: Only license keys from version 6 and above can be registered to Cloud Zoo licensing. The old version 5 is not supported as per testing
